Enable Picture in Picture (PIP) Mode for YouTube on the iPad

Picture in Picture mode is one of my favorite features of iOS.  For those of you who don’t know, on iPads it lets you continue to watch a video from one app in the corner of your screen while in another.

A TON of video apps already support Picture in Picture mode, but YouTube with both the app and web blocks PiP in their player. But, there is a fix!

A $0.99 app available from the App Store called PipTube brings PiP to YouTube.
All you do is in Safari (or the YouTube app) use the Action Extension and select “Open in PiPTube.”
Then click on the PiP icon
Once you get the confirmation that the video is playing in picture in picture, just press the home button and you are in PiP mode.

The app is $0.99 and you can download the app for the App Store here.
