Just Press Record, has become one of my most favorite iOS and watchOS apps. Due to my job, I attend quite a few meetings and briefings and have to absorb a ton of information. I have pages and pages of notes, but notes are not as good as actually having a recording of the conversation. But, better yet a good transcription of the conversation.
This app is not only universal but also has a native watchOS app that uses the mic on your Apple Watch (with a complication!) that in a matter of a few seconds you can easily record audio. The audio files easily sync between your watch, iPad, iPhone and Mac by using iCloud.
Now in version 2.0, which also coincided with the release of iOS 10, Just Press Record taps into Siri voice recognition to actually transcribe your recordings – automatically. This also enables your recordings to be searchable via spotlight which makes life infinitely easier when dealing with spoken word.
Even though Just Press Record has a minimal interface, its all you need – a simple big red microphone button in the middle of the screen. Tap it to record, tap it again when you’re done. On iOS there is also 3D Touch support as well as a widget.
Recordings are saved as .m4a files with a timestamp as their filename. For $2.99 count me in!
